The McKoy Fonville Collective stands at the forefront of preserving and promoting the powerful legacy of Sacred Steel music, a genre deeply rooted in House of God Church. With a mission to elevate this electrifying sound and its gifted artists, the Collective proudly showcases Sacred Steel on every stage and platform possible—bringing its spirit, soul, and sound to audiences around the world.
At the heart of this movement is DaShawn Hickman, one of the genre’s most dynamic and influential voices. A prodigy of the pedal steel guitar, DaShawn began his musical journey at just five years old. He honed his craft within the sacred halls of the House of God church, where Sacred Steel was born. By his teenage years, he co-founded The Allen Boys—North Carolina’s only touring Sacred Steel band—alongside three of his cousins. Together, they broke new ground, thrilling crowds across the country with their fiery performances and deep-rooted devotion.
With a signature blend of traditional gospel, soul, and modern musicality, DaShawn Hickman has captivated audiences far and wide. His dedication and impact were recognized in August 2023 when he was honored with induction into the Sacred Steel Hall of Fame—a testament to his artistry, innovation, and leadership in the genre.
The McKoy Fonville Collective and DaShawn Hickman invite you to experience the sound of Sacred Steel like never before—a sound that heals, uplifts, and transcends.
